Counselling Services

Counselling at the Well Women Centre
At the Well Women Centre we offer a free, confidential counselling service allowing you space and time to explore various aspects of your life that may be troubling you. Counselling is offered at different times of the day or evening and there is no limit on the number of sessions you can have. You will be offered an assessment first which usually lasts about 50 minutes, and helps us to ensure you get the right kind of counselling and counsellor. You will also have a chance to ask any questions you may have about counselling. We offer both Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and our counsellors work in accordance with the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy written by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
We do have a waiting list for counselling. It varies from 6 weeks to 6 months, depending how busy we are. Your assessor will tell you how long she thinks you will need to wait. Your assessor will tell you if there is another service where you could access counselling sooner.

You will need to come to one of our drop in times.
(Please click on "drop-in" option in left hand menu for more information)
These are held on Mondays 5-8pm and Friday 10am-1pm.
Here you will meet with one of our trained volunteers for an initial interview. This takes about 30 minutes, and during this time we will talk about what has brought you to the centre, the services we offer and how we can help you.
If we agree that counselling is the best way forward then we will give you an appointment for a counselling assessment. This will happen within a few weeks of the initial interview and will be performed by an experienced counsellor. This is to help us match you up with a counsellor with the appropriate experience.
